Harry Potter and the deathly hallows part 2 (2011)
It all Ends.
That was the tagline. Just that and a date. No title, we didn't need one, we knew.
The Potter generation was about to say goodbye. And it was breathtaking.
Carrying on from part 1, Snake is now headmaster of Hogwarts, and the death eaters have free rein, honestly why ppl were back to school I'll never know...tortured and downtrodden, the school is on constant watch for Harry. Meanwhile, on a hunch the trio are on route to destroy another horcrux, hidden in Gringotts bank. After escaping on a dragon, they head for the next one, possibly in Hogwarts. Makes sense where the death eaters are, and of course Voldemort's waiting for Harry to return.
Most of this film is of course, the battle of Hogwarts, with teachers, students and creatures fighting against Voldemort. so much is going on at once some scenes are chock full of stuff, from spiders, to giants, so much going on.
We meet the founder of Ravenclaws daughter, Aberforthe, Dumbeldore's brother and my personal favourite scene, McGonagoll kicks Snapes ass! love that so much (Maggie was fighting cancer at the time, so it's more prudent).
So many are lost in the battle, and we see the aftermath including Tonks and Remus and of course Fred, absolutely heartbreaking. Honestly Molly's revenge on Bellatrix and it the only time you hear her swear! everyone clapped during that in the cinema.
And we all know that Hermione and Ron finally get it together, which is sweet and funny, and makes light of a bad situation.
Eventually Harry confronts Voldemort, and accepts his fate. However he is revived, thanks to the resurrection stone hidden in the golden snitch, good ole Dumbledore!
We all know Voldemort is defeated, the only gripe I have with the film is Voldemort's death, I mean in the book he.died as a mortal, showing he's human or something like that and I'm the film he literally just.. flutters away.
The last shots of the trio are iconic, and seeing them grown with their own kids...
The film finished, the audience got to their feet and cheered, and clapped, I've never seen that happen before. I saw it twice in the cinema. And I never forgot it.
