See indepth look HERE.
The second installment in the franchise, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets is as magical as the first one. Harry is again due at Hogwarts, but after a house elf, Dobby causes trouble, he is locked in his room and forbidden to go. Ron and co break him out and he is taken to the burrow. After getting his school supplies, they meet Gilderoy Lockhart, who becomes the new defense against the dark arts teacher at Hogwarts.
Of course all the girls are taken with the new teacher, while to Harry he's an annoyance. When Cornish Pixies get out, and the group are abandoned by the teacher, its Hermione that comes to the rescue.
Student's start been attacked, petrified, and Harry is accused after he speaks Parseltongue, a language that snakes use, and only bad wizards can speak. But we know this is a connection to Voldemort which is yet to be determined. Hermione is humiliated by Malfoy when she stands upto him after he as usual is a jerk, she is called a mudblood, which in the wizarding world is basically like a racist slang. Witches and Wizards who are born of non magical families are referred to as this slur, which upsets Hermione greatly.
When more attacks happen, Harry finds a diary, and discovers Hagrid opened the Chamber of Secrets, this turns out to be false, and after been attacked by giant spiders, Harry figures out it was Tom Riddle, who he's been talking to through the diary.
When Hermione is attacked, the boys find that she has figure out how the "monster" is getting around and petrifying people. Not only does Hermione figure out it's a giant snake, which is why Harry can hear and understand it, but it's using the plumbing to get around.
After Harry discovers the chamber in the girls bathroom, stops Gilderoy Lockhart who is actually a physco who wipes memories, he discovers Tom Riddle is Voldemort. After saving the day again, Hermione is unpetrified.
Hermione is spunky, and her comeback at Malfoy is brilliant, Emma gives another brilliant performance, this film is funny, and light hearted, with a big heap of darkness put in.
Just magical.
